π§πΎ LOCKHART ANIMAL SHELTER RENOVATION UPDATE πΎπ§
Beginning June 15, the Lockhart Animal Shelter will undergo important facility improvements designed to better protect the health and welfare of animals in our care.
These renovations include:
πΆ Creating a dedicated isolation and new animal intake area
πΆ Improving indoor dog kennels to help reduce the spread of illness and disease
πΆ Enhancing our ability to safely care for shelter animals now and in the future
During construction, our dogs will be temporarily housed outdoors while the indoor kennel building is renovated. As a result, kennel space will be extremely limited.
π HOW YOU CAN HELP
π‘ Foster a Dog or Puppy
One of the biggest ways you can help is by opening your home to a shelter dog during construction. Foster homes provide a quiet, comfortable environment away from the noise, commotion, and stress associated with renovations. Even a short-term foster placement can make a tremendous difference for an animal's well-being.
πΎ Help Limit Animal Intakes When Possible
If you find a healthy stray animal, please consider:
β’ Checking for an owner before bringing the animal to the shelter
β’ Holding the animal temporarily while we assist with reunification efforts
β’ Reaching out to friends, family, neighbors, and local social media groups
Every animal that can safely remain outside the shelter helps us continue caring for those already in our custody during this temporary disruption.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work to improve our facility and better serve the animals and citizens of our community. β€οΈ
Please contact the shelter if you are interested in fostering or would like additional information.
