City Facilities Closure Notice
City facilities will be closing today at 4:00 PM as a precautionary measure in response to the weather forecast. We are presently under a tornado watch, so please keep an eye on your local news and weather updates for the most current information. Heavy rainfall may lead to hazardous road conditions—please stay safe.

A Tornado Watch has now been issued for portions of north and central Georgia through 11 PM tonight. The remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur is bringing a risk for strong to severe storms with damaging wind gusts and brief tornadoes.

Heavy rainfall and strong to severe thunderstorms are expected Thursday and Friday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur move into the state. Heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding, especially late Thursday into Friday morning.

A Flood Watch is now in effect for much of the area Thursday into Friday as the remnants of a tropical disturbance cross the region. 2 to 4 inches of rain are forecast within the watch area, with locally higher amounts possible.

A tropical disturbance has a 60% of forming into a tropical system in the next few days off the coast of Texas. While it is too early to determine wind or severe impacts from the system, heavy rainfall due to tropical moisture is expected across north and central Georgia by the end of the week.
