Join on June 24th at 6:00PM at Luminescence in Hunter's Point South Park for a heartwarming, ocean-themed journey perfect for families and little explorers!

Rebecca kicks us off with calming ocean breaths and playful, sea-inspired yoga stretches—flowing like waves and stretching like curious sea creatures. Then, Mandi will read her beloved children’s book: “Avery the Axolotl”—a gentle tale of wonder, mindfulness, and staying true to yourself. The adventure continues with a soothing mini soundbath to lull busy minds into peace, followed by the highlight: the ‘Mini Sound Healers Club!’ Kids are invited to join in, touch, and play a variety of healing instruments—singing bowls, chimes, drums, and more—becoming the soundkeepers of the night. Bring your mat, a blanket, and your sense of wonder. This is connection, creativity, and calm—all in one splashy, soulful hour.

We will meet at Luminescence Peninsula in the park - at the intersection of 54th Ave and Center Blvd, once you enter the park, look for the pathway by the marsh that will lead you to Luminescence. Here is a pin for the location.

Join us on Saturday, June 13th from 10:30AM - 1PM for Botanical Sketching with Pencil & Ink!

*For teens and adults!*

In this adult beginner-friendly introduction to botanical sketching, we’ll begin with a brief classroom orientation before we head outdoors to the park for inspiration. After capturing the beauty of nature, we’ll return to the classroom to refine and complete your botanical sketches.

Learn the fundamentals of using artist pencils to build forms. We’ll step up your shape modeling by discussing occlusion shadows, cast shadows, and reflected light. And how to incorporate these into your drawing of plants.

Explore how to break down flowers and leaves into simple, elegant shapes.

We’ll examine the flower details under a magnifying lens for added inspiration.

All materials are provided; if you would like, please bring your own colored pencils, watercolor pencils, or other art supplies.

This workshop is the perfect opportunity to prepare a drawing for painting in the upcoming botanical watercolor class.

Guided by Scientific Illustrator Monica Schroeder
