Today we commemorate Juneteenth, the day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates the freedom, resilience, culture, and contributions of Black Americans throughout our nationβs history.
As we reflect on this important day, we honor the generations who fought for freedom and continue working toward equity, opportunity, and justice for all.
In observance of Juneteenth, DEO offices β including Americaβs Job Centers of California (AJCCs) and the East Los Angeles Entrepreneur Center β are closed today.
While our offices are closed, resources for workers, job seekers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses remain available online.

This weekend, Team DEO joined Supervisor Holly J. Mitchellβs 6th Annual Juneteenth Celebration & Resource Fair at George Washington Carver Park, connecting residents with Youth@Work and entrepreneurship services available across Los Angeles County.
DEO was proud to share information and resources with attendees while honoring the history, resilience, and achievements celebrated through Juneteenth.

π¬ New interim report released.
DEO, the LA County Film Office, and the County Chief Executive Office have released initial findings on the potential economic and workforce impacts of Paramount Skydanceβs proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.
The report was commissioned in response to a March 17, 2026 motion authored by Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath and approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
Key findings include:
π Up to 2,495 local positions may be exposed to consolidation-related workforce impacts
π° Approximately $82 billion in combined debt
π More than $6 billion in projected consolidation savings could increase consolidation pressures
π₯ Only 1 of 19 theatrical releases reviewed from 2025 was primarily filmed in California
The final report, expected in August 2026, will include additional analysis and recommendations to support workers, businesses, and the long-term resilience of LA Countyβs entertainment economy.

π Congratulations to the 11 graduates of Cohort 3 from CEO LAβs Careers for Change: Construction and Landscaping Advanced Training Pathways program!
On June 12, DEO joined our High Road Training Partnership (HRTP) partner, CEO LA, to celebrate participants completing an 8-week training program that helps individuals returning from incarceration build skills and pathways to careers in construction and landscaping.
Graduates earned industry-recognized credentials, including Hunter Irrigation and Cal/OSHA 10 certifications, and are eligible for direct sponsorship into union apprenticeship programs.
Congratulations to the graduates, and thank you to CEO LA and all program partners for creating pathways to quality jobs and economic mobility across LA County.
