This past month, Los Angeles House of Ruth celebrated an important milestone: 6 families successfully moved into stable housing.
These families are now moving forward with the security and hope that comes with having a place to call home.
This milestone reflects the dedication of our staff, partners, supporters, and community members who make this life-changing work possible. Together, we are helping families build a foundation for long-term stability and success.
Thank you for standing with us as we continue our mission to end homelessness and support survivors and families on their journey toward independence.
Help us continue this important work. Your donation makes it possible for more families to move from the streets into permanent housing. Every contribution helps provide the resources, support, and housing assistance families need to build a safer and brighter future. Together, we can help more families find a place to call home and create lasting change in our community.

June is widely recognized as National Safety Month, a time when organizations actively promote awareness regarding violence prevention and survivor safety. Additionally, domestic violence incidents—which historically see an estimated 12% increase during the summer months due to stressors like disruptions to school routines, increased temperatures, and higher alcohol/substance use is noted.
At Los Angeles House of Ruth, safety is more than a goal—it's the foundation for healing, hope, and new beginnings. Every day, we provide survivors of domestic violence and their families with a safe place to rebuild their lives, access critical resources, and move toward a future free from abuse.
This month, we encourage our community to learn more about domestic violence prevention, support survivors, and help create safer homes and neighborhoods for all.
Join us this month in raising awareness about domestic violence and the importance of creating safe spaces by sharing our posts and visiting our website to learn about who we are and what we do, and to make a donation.

A heartfelt thank you to First United Methodist Church of North Hollywood for their generosity and compassion! 💜 This dedicated group of volunteers assembled 50 sack lunches for our clients, each packed with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, cookies, crackers, juice, a mandarin orange, and a fruit snack.
These lunches provide more than nourishment—they offer comfort, care, and a reminder that our community stands together to support individuals and families in need.

Men's Mental Health Awareness Month
Mental health affects everyone—and conversations about emotional well-being are essential to preventing violence and building healthier relationships.
This Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, we recognize that many men face challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, isolation, and societal pressure to remain silent about their struggles. Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
At the Los Angeles House of Ruth, we believe that promoting mental wellness, healthy coping skills, and open communication can help foster safer families and communities. By encouraging men and boys to prioritize their mental health, we can help break cycles of violence and create pathways toward healing.

Leaving an abusive relationship takes immense courage. Abuse is rooted in power and control, and when a survivor chooses to leave, that control is threatened. In response, an abusive partner may retaliate in harmful ways.
For many survivors, the period immediately after leaving is the most dangerous time.
Leaving an abusive relationship is not something anyone should have to navigate alone. At Los Angeles House of Ruth, survivors can access safe shelter, counseling, advocacy, legal support, and resources designed to help them rebuild their lives with dignity and security.

Many women leave abusive partners with very little or nothing at all. This is extremely common in situations involving domestic violence.
Abuse often includes financial control, isolation, intimidation, and manipulation that make it difficult to leave safely. Many survivors may leave suddenly to protect themselves or their children, sometimes taking only:
• identification documents
• a phone
• medications
• children’s essentials
• a small bag of clothing
Some leave without access to:
• money or bank accounts
t• ransportation
• housing
• credit cards
• personal belongings
• employment records
• support systems
Abusive partners may intentionally:
• control finances
• prevent employment
• monitor spending
• ruin credit
• withhold important documents
i• solate survivors from family and friends
This is one reason organizations like Los Angeles House of Ruth and other shelters are so important — they help provide emergency shelter, food, counseling, children’s services, housing support, and help rebuild stability after leaving dangerous situations.
