Our LAUSD Retirement Recognition Event at Cortines High School saw many of our employees recognized for their years of service to the District.

I am always inspired by the amazing stories our retirees share with me, and it's heartwarming to hear about the significant moments in their careers. I know this moment is bittersweet for many of our employees, and I hope they find comfort in not having to wake up early every weekday to go to work.

Remember to take that alarm clock and throw it out the window! Congratulations to these amazing retirees. LAUSD will miss you and remember your contributions.

Today, we honor Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and celebrates freedom, resilience, and hope.

May this day inspire reflection, learning, and a continued commitment to equity and opportunity for all.

Yesterday, we recognized several important members of the LAUSD family as they step into retirement after a long service to our students and staff. While this moment may be bittersweet, I do believe that these retirees are leaving us in a better condition than when they first arrived. These people come from different divisions and departments, and all have vastly different roles. However, this is what it means to be a part of a team that comes together to help our school district function.

Thank you for your years of service, and we wish you the best in what's to come next.
