Today, on World Refugee Day, we honor the strength, resilience, and courage of those who have been forced to flee their homes in search of safety and opportunity. 🌎

As we recognize the journeys of refugees around the world, we remember that every person deserves the right to live free from fear, persecution, and violence.

And as we look to tomorrow, we reaffirm our commitment to building communities where everyone can find safety, belonging, and a place to call home.

161 years ago today, enslaved people were declared free — two years after Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

This Juneteenth, as we celebrate Black culture and voices, we remember the hard work and sacrifices that have been made for progress and freedom.

And as we look to tomorrow, we continue to honor Black history while striving for a brighter future.

Today, we honor Loving Day and the legacy of Richard and Mildred Loving.

The Lovings (pictured) were the in*******al couple at the center of Loving v. Virginia. This landmark 1967 case ultimately struck down bans on in*******al marriage across our nation.

Their fight for equality reshaped US law and policy, ultimately establishing the precedent for marriage equality in Obergefell v. Hodges.

This Pride Month, we’d like to thank the Lovings for their courage and their contributions to protecting our fundamental rights.

June is National Immigrant Heritage Month! We are so lucky to live in Los Angeles, where 1 in 3 Angelenos is an immigrant. This month is the time to uplift their stories, and acknowlege how much hard work and sacrifice they have put forth.
