The ’26 Youth Institute is officially in session! Our newest cohort kicked things off today with a scavenger hunt through the Peace Over Violence Metro HQ. Students got the chance to connect with staff and learn about the careers that make this work possible. We’re so proud to welcome this group into our family and we can’t wait to see where this program takes them!

Patti,
Congratulations on 45 years of service in the domestic and sexual violence movement and at Peace Over Violence!
For more than four decades, you have contributed to advancing awareness, prevention, and response efforts addressing domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence. Through your leadership in the field, you have supported the development and growth of programs focused on survivor support, prevention education, and community engagement, strengthening partnerships and expanding engagement with funders and stakeholders.
As one of the original members and a long-time self-defense instructor (and black belt in karate), you have also brought a strong focus on empowerment and personal safety as an important part of prevention work. Thank you for that!
You have helped elevate the organization’s visibility and credibility, including through campaigns such as Denim Day, which continues to challenge victim-blaming and expand public understanding of sexual violence around the world.
Your decades of work have helped shift and strengthen the DV and SA movement in meaningful ways, expanding conversations, deepening community engagement, and increasing awareness and support for survivors.
Thank you for your vision and your longstanding commitment to this work. Your 45 years of dedication have helped shape and strengthen this movement and Peace Over Violence in lasting ways.

Two weeks later and we’re still feeling the impact of Denim Day 2026 💙
This year marked one of the largest Denim Day campaigns to date, with millions of people participating across Los Angeles, the country, and around the world. From rallies and classrooms to campuses, workplaces, community events, and social media, hundreds of cities, colleges, organizations, and community groups came together to support survivors, challenge victim blaming, and use their voices for change.
Thank you to every survivor, advocate, educator, student, artist, volunteer, partner, and community member who showed up and helped turn awareness into action.
From our kickoff event and LA City Hall Solidarity Rally to global participation, national media coverage, social campaigns, survivor stories, art, music, education, and advocacy — Denim Day 2026 was a powerful reminder that this movement continues to grow.
Visit the Denim Day website for the full 2026 recap, highlights, photos, and more. Link in bio.
On Mother’s Day, we honor the people who care for others in big ways and small ways every day. 💜
The mothers, grandmothers, aunties, chosen family, caregivers, q***r and trans parents, fathers acting as mothers, and the people who continue showing up with love, protection, and resilience even in difficult moments.
At Peace Over Violence, we know that care can look like many things — helping someone find safety, listening without judgment, supporting a survivor through healing, or simply reminding someone they are not alone.
Every day, survivors and families turn to POV for support, advocacy, housing assistance, counseling, and healing services. We remain committed to being there for those navigating violence, uncertainty, and recovery.
Thank you for helping us build communities rooted in compassion, dignity, and peace.
