This past weekend, all available CHP personnel focused on one simple goal: getting impaired drivers off the road.

During the 12-hour Maximum Enforcement Period, CHP officers arrested 505 DUI drivers who chose to get behind the wheel while impaired.

This weekend was a reminder to always designate a sober driver. Choose to protect yourself and those around you and remember that a DUI costs way more than opting for a rideshare or taxi.

Thank you to everyone who made safety a priority this weekend. Let’s continue working together to keep California roads safe.

These officers demonstrated extraordinary courage, selflessness, and dedication while responding to critical incidents across the state. Their actions exemplify the CHP’s commitment to protecting and serving others, often in the face of great personal risk.

Congratulations to this year’s recipients, and thank you for your unwavering service to the people of California.

A carjacking suspect led officers on a pursuit that began in Fontana and stretched all the way to Lynwood, near Compton, before CHP officers brought it to a safe conclusion.

When the suspect refused to surrender, CHP units blocked the vehicle and prevented any further danger to the public. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot, but a CHP K-9 quickly stepped in and helped bring the incident to an end.

One stolen vehicle recovered. One suspect in custody. Another example of teamwork, training, and determination keeping California communities safe. Great work !🐾🚔
