Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers who joined us yesterday to mark storm drains and distribute educational materials to more than 130 homes in our community!

Storm drains play an important role in protecting our local waterways. Stormwater flows directly from streets and neighborhoods into nearby streams, rivers, and lakes. That means anything left on the ground, such as litter, pet waste, and other pollutants, can be carried by rainwater straight into our waterways.

By marking storm drains and helping educate residents, our volunteers are raising awareness about the connection between our neighborhoods and local streams. Small actions, like properly disposing of waste and keeping debris out of storm drains, can make a big difference in protecting water quality!

Storm Drain Marking service projects will return in the Fall, but if you or your organization would like to host your own Storm Drain Marking event, project proposal forms can be found on our website!

Happy National Go Fishing Day!

Today, we're highlighting our Stream Monitoring Team, who recently spent the day fish sampling at Noonday Creek. By collecting data on fish populations and stream health, they help us better understand the condition of our waterways and identify changes over time.

Fish are important indicators of water quality, and the information gathered by our team supports efforts to protect healthy aquatic habitats and maintain clean water throughout our community.

If you're celebrating National Go Fishing Day in Georgia, don't forget that anglers age 16 and older need a valid fishing license before casting a line.

Here's to healthy streams, thriving fish populations, and the dedicated team working behind the scenes to protect them!
