We were honored to participate in the U.S. HUD Housing Affordability Faith-Based Roundtable alongside MUST Ministries and Trinity Central Flats.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Atlanta Regional team brought together faith-based organizations and housing providers to foster dialogue around housing affordability challenges, development opportunities, housing stability, and supportive services for vulnerable populations. It was a room full of people committed to finding real solutions for our neighbors who need safe, stable housing.

We are grateful to the HUD Atlanta Regional Team for their partnership and for the meaningful work being done to expand affordable housing opportunities across our community. We look forward to continued collaboration.

Every year on June 15, we recognize World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) to shine a light on the urgent need to protect and support one of the most vulnerable populations in our communities.

Elder abuse can take many forms including physical, emotional, financial, neglect, and more, and often goes unreported. According to the United Nations, 1 in 6 people aged 60+ experience abuse in community settings each year. As our aging population continues to grow, addressing this issue has never been more important.

At LiveSafe Resources, our Elder Abuse Program provides free, confidential support to survivors aged 50 and older. Services include:

• Emergency shelter
• One-on-one case management
• Medical accompaniment
• Legal accompaniment
• Help attaining financial assistance

We are incredibly grateful to the North Georgia State Fair and Superior Plumbing for their generous support of LiveSafe Resources! At the third annual Scholarship and Grant Awards Dinner, LiveSafe Resources was honored to receive a $35,000 grant alongside so many outstanding nonprofits working to make Cobb County a better place.

The work we do to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault depends on the generosity of partners who believe in building a safer, stronger community for everyone. This grant directly supports that mission.

Congratulations to all of the 2026 scholarship recipients and fellow grant recipients. Together, we are building a safer, stronger community.

We want to take a moment to honor three outstanding members of the LiveSafe Resources Board of Directors who are retiring from the board. Krishnan, Marcos, and McGary have given their time, talent, and hearts to our mission, bringing passion, community leadership, and unwavering dedication to everything they do.

The impact of their service extends far beyond the boardroom. Because of their commitment, LiveSafe Resources is stronger, and the clients we serve are better supported. We are deeply grateful for the countless ways they have shown up for our organization and our community over the years.

After two years of dedicated leadership as Board Chair, we are saying a heartfelt thank you to Allison Giddens as she transitions out of the Chair role and into the Immediate Past Chair role on our board.

Allison joined the board in July 2019 and has been a driving force on the board ever since. She has served as resource development chair, vice chair, and chair through her terms. Under her leadership she has led instrumental service and facility developments such as the launch of the Steve Imler Shelter for Pets in Crisis, Transitional Housing apartment refresh, and a brand-new playground.

She leads with compassion and a servant’s heart, never asking someone to do a task she isn’t willing to do herself. Allison’s chairmanship has positively impacted LSR in so many ways, and we are so thankful for her drive to make the community better every day.

Allison, your leadership over these past two years has meant the world to our team, our clients, and our community. We are so grateful for everything you have poured into this role and are glad we get to keep you at the table.
