Cobb County is currently under a Tornado Watch.
You’ve probably seen the taco analogy used to explain the difference between a watch and a warning. Since hot dogs are a popular summer favorite, here’s another way to think about it:
Tornado Watch: You have the buns, hot dogs, and toppings on the counter. All the ingredients are there, and conditions are right for something to happen.
Tornado Warning: The hot dog is fully assembled. It’s happening now, and it’s time to take action.
A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop.
If a Tornado Warning is issued, move immediately to an interior room on the lowest level of a sturdy building and stay away from windows.
While there is no immediate danger, now is the time to stay weather aware and be prepared.
-Monitor trusted weather sources and local forecasts
-Make sure Emergency Alerts are enabled on your phone
-Have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially if storms occur overnight
-Know where you will shelter if a warning is issued
-Charge phones and other essential devices
-Secure loose outdoor items that could become projectiles in strong winds
Stay weather aware, Cobb County. A few minutes of preparation now can make a big difference if conditions change.
A drowning can happen in as little as 30 seconds. And it can be completely silent. That’s why you should supervise children in the pool at all times. Keep beginner swimmers within arms reach. Even strong swimmers need to be within eyesight. If your child hasn’t been taught to swim, make sure they wear a life jacket. While children are at a higher risk, a drowning can happen to anyone. Don’t let it happen to you or your loved ones.

Thank you to J. Christopher’s East Lake for hosting Coffee with Firefighters on Saturday!
We also want to thank the guys from Engine 20 for taking the time to come out and connect with those who attended. The kids especially enjoyed meeting our firefighters, exploring the fire engine, and learning more about the fire service!
And a huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with us!

Whether you're heading to the lake, campground, or job site, trailer safety starts before you hit the road.
No matter what you're towing, Trailer Safety Week is a great reminder to review safe towing practices before every trip.
Improperly connected trailers, overloaded loads, and tire failures can lead to serious crashes, putting you, your passengers, and everyone else on the road at risk.
Before every trip:
• Check your tire pressure and condition
• Make sure that all safety chains are properly connected
• Test that the brake lights and turn signals are working
• Secure all cargo and equipment
• Verify that the hitch is locked and properly attached
A few extra minutes of preparation can help prevent crashes, breakdowns, and injuries.

Last week was full of extrication training across Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services!
From our cadets getting a hands-on introduction to vehicle extrication, to Squads 7 and 12 sharing their knowledge and experience with HERO trainees, there was opportunities to learn, teach, and grow.
Vehicle extrication is a critical skill that allows firefighters to safely remove patients trapped in damaged vehicles following serious crashes. It requires technical expertise, teamwork, precision, and continuous training to ensure crews are prepared when lives are on the line.
We're proud of our team members who dedicate their time to developing the next generation of firefighters and emergency responders. Whether introducing cadets to the fire service or helping train our regional partners, their commitment to education and excellence strengthens our department and the community we serve.
