Today, we honor Juneteenth — a day of remembrance, reflection and celebration marking the end of slavery in the United States.

The Board of Commissioners was honored to issue a proclamation recognizing Juneteenth and its significance in our nation's history. The proclamation was accepted by Henry County NAACP during the commission meeting on Tuesday.

May this observance serve as an opportunity to learn, reflect and honor the enduring pursuit of liberty and equality for all.

Henry County Government offices are closed today. The Recycle Center will be closed today and tomorrow.

🚨 UPDATE: Tornado Watch Extended Until 11 PM 🚨

The Tornado Watch for our area has been extended until 11:00 PM.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur continue to move through Georgia, bringing the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms, damaging wind gusts, and brief tornadoes.

Residents are encouraged to stay indoors, avoid windows, and postpone outdoor activities until the warning expires.

If a Tornado Warning is issued, move to the lowest level of your home and stay away from windows.

We are monitoring conditions and will continue to provide updates as needed. Stay safe!

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 5:00 PM. Seek shelter immediately and stay weather aware. Strong winds, heavy rainfall, lightning, and hail are possible.

A Tornado Watch is in effect for parts of Georgia, including Henry County, until 11 PM EDT.

Stay alert and have a way to receive warnings. 🌪️

Watch vs Warning:
• Watch means conditions are favorable — be prepared.
• Warning means a tornado is spotted or indicated on radar — take shelter immediately.

Over $530,000 in state funding secured. Zero local match required.

That’s one of the important actions approved by the Henry County Board of Commissioners this week.

The funding will support treatment, recovery, mental health and veterans services, while additional actions focused on public safety, transportation improvements and community quality of life.

We’re pleased to share that asphalt paving on East Atlanta Road is now complete!

Temporary striping has been installed to help guide motorists while crews prepare for the final phase of the project. Permanent striping, designed to enhance nighttime visibility for motorists, will begin in the near future.
