Today, we join our community and our nation in honoring Juneteenth — a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of equality for all.

Juneteenth marks the day when the last enslaved African Americans learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It stands as a powerful reminder of our shared history and the progress made through courage, perseverance, and unity.

As we reflect on this important day, the Henry County Sheriff's Office remains committed to serving our community with integrity, respect, and a dedication to building stronger relationships with all those we are privileged to serve.

May we continue to learn from the past, celebrate the progress of the present, and work together toward a brighter future.

🌮☀️ Another great day at the Henry County Public Safety Summer Camp! ☀️🌮

Today was Taco Tuesday, and our campers enjoyed a special lunch served by some familiar faces! Members of our administrative team, command staff, and even Sheriff Reginald B. Scandrett stopped by to roll up their sleeves and spend time with the kiddos.

From sharing laughs over lunch to making memories throughout the day, we always enjoy opportunities to connect with the next generation. And thankfully, we got all the fun in outside before the rain decided to make an appearance! 🌦️

These moments are what community engagement is all about—building relationships, creating positive experiences, and showing our young people that public safety is about people first.

We’re having a blast and looking forward to another exciting day tomorrow!

🚨☀️ CAMP IS OFFICIALLY IN SESSION! ☀️🚨

Today marked the first day of the Henry County Public Safety Summer Camp, where we’ve partnered with Henry County Parks & Recreation and several public safety agencies to give local students an exciting, hands-on week of learning, adventure, and fun!

Day One was all about our animal handlers and big trucks, and the campers got an up-close look at some of the incredible work being done across public safety. Students spent time with members of our SWAT Team, K-9 Unit, and Special Investigations Section, learning about their roles, exploring equipment, asking questions, and making memories along the way.

The smiles, excitement, and curiosity we saw today are exactly what this camp is all about—building connections, inspiring future leaders, and showing our young people the many ways public servants work to keep our community safe.

We’re just getting started and can’t wait to see what the rest of the week has in store!

Building strong partnerships helps build stronger communities.

Recently, our Background and Recruiting team had the opportunity to welcome members of the U.S. Army Recruiting Team from McDonough to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. The visit provided an opportunity to connect, share ideas, and discuss the many ways we can continue supporting and serving our community together.

We were especially proud to recognize the many HCSO team members who have served or continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces. Their dedication to service extends beyond the military and continues through their commitment to protecting and serving the citizens of Henry County.

At HCSO, we remain committed to strengthening community ties and fostering relationships with organizations that share our dedication to service, leadership, and making a positive impact.

Thank you to the U.S. Army Recruiting Team for stopping by. We look forward to future opportunities to collaborate and serve alongside one another.
