The City of McDonough observes Juneteenth, commemorating the day in 1865 when the news of emancipation finally reached the last remaining enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas.
Today, we honor the profound journey toward freedom, celebrate the resilience of our community, and reflect on our shared commitment to liberty and justice for all.
Please note that city administrative offices are closed today in observance of the holiday. Essential services and emergency operations remain fully active.
