Meet Kevin Hyms, Past President of the Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce, in this latest feature of “3 Questions With.”

🔹 What do you love most about your community?

What I love most about our community is the perfect balance of small town charm and convenience. Lake Ronkonkoma offers beautiful scenery and a welcoming atmosphere, while our location provides easy access to major highways, the train station and the airport. It’s a place where you can enjoy a peaceful neighborhood feel without being far from everything you need.

🔹 What are some of your chamber's initiatives or programs that you are most proud of?

We’re especially proud of the downtown revitalization grant and the current sewer study because both reflect our commitment to Ronkonkoma’s future. We’re always looking for meaningful ways to invest in our community and its infrastructure, support responsible growth, and encourage long-term economic development. Ronkonkoma continues to be an attractive, vibrant, and welcoming place for residents, visitors, and local businesses.

🔹 What does being a member of the Suffolk County Alliance of Chambers mean to you?

This is a great venue to interact with many of the Chambers of Commerce from Suffolk County and keep updated on business programs and incentives.

Father's Day is almost here, and there's no better time to support the businesses that help make our communities thrive.

As you search for the perfect gift, consider shopping local and exploring the shops in our downtowns. And when it's time to celebrate, dine local if you’re going out to eat instead of a BBQ at the house. There are plenty of ways to celebrate Dad while supporting your neighbors.

Meet Rick Ammirati, President of the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of the MacArthur Business Alliance and SCAC Advisory Board Member, in this latest feature of “3 Questions With.”

🔹 What do you love most about your community?

The relationships I’ve curated and cultivated over the past 50 years, the connections, friendships and support system are priceless and are what make this community feel like home.

🔹 What are some of your chamber's initiatives or programs that you are most proud of?

The work we do continues to make Holbrook a stronger community for residents, families and local businesses.

One major accomplishment is the upcoming $12 million sewer project, which is set to begin in the Fall of 2026 and will help support future growth and infrastructure improvements for our downtown and surrounding areas.

We’re also very excited about acquiring a 4-acre park in the downtown area through the County, with completion anticipated around Fall 2028/Spring 2029. This project is an all inclusive/accessible park with a focus on supporting the autism & senior community, and will create new community space for residents to enjoy for generations to come.

Our Annual Carnival has been a Holbrook tradition for 31 years and continues to bring families, neighbors, and businesses together each year. We’re also proud of our holiday lighting program, ongoing road infrastructure improvements, and beautification projects that help make Holbrook a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.

🔹 What does being a member of the Suffolk County Alliance of Chambers mean to you?

Being a member of the Suffolk County Alliance of Chambers means being part of a strong and proud association alongside so many outstanding sister chambers throughout the county.
The SCAC provides valuable information to the participants at our quarterly meetings. The programs offer opportunities to share ideas, discuss challenges, and work together to strengthen the business community across Suffolk County.

Serving on the SCAC Advisory Board has been especially rewarding, as I truly enjoy collaborating with fellow business leaders and chamber executives who are all passionate about supporting their communities and helping Long Island continue to grow and thrive.

Like County Executive Ed Romaine said, Suffolk County is open for business. Our Chairman, Bob Fonti, was proud to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for Mason Technologies’ new corporate headquarters in the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge, alongside the HIA-LI, Suffolk County IDA, Association for a Better Long Island, the Long Island Builders Institute, local dignitaries and so many friends who are responsible for keeping Suffolk County running smoothly.

This incredible $30 million investment will bring 275 new jobs with a commitment for even more growth ahead, to the nation’s second largest industrial park, second only to Silicon Valley. This is a major win for Suffolk County and a powerful example of why businesses should choose our region to grow, invest, and create opportunity.

Jennifer and Adam, it was a pleasure meeting you both. Congratulations on this exciting milestone and on hosting the best groundbreaking ceremony we’ve ever attended.
We look forward to seeing your continued success here in Suffolk County and you are welcome at our meeting any time you would like.
