This Eastern Screech Owl nestling was found at the base of a tree in the Florida Keys, and the team at Florida Keys Wild Bird Center didn’t hesitate: they assessed, they cared, and when they realized he was the only owl of his kind in their care, they reached out to us — knowing we had others his age and species for him to grow up alongside 🦉🦉🦉

That’s what this network is. Not just referrals — genuine collaboration. Shared knowledge, shared purpose and, sometimes, shared patients ❤️‍🩹

This Florida Softshell Turtle was found in the middle of I-27, in traffic. It sounds unlikely — but it happens more often than most people realize.
This patient came in with a badly cracked shell. We tried our best, but the injuries were too severe and she passed after a few days in care.
If you find a turtle on the road, help them cross in the direction they were heading. If they’re injured, bring them into our care 🐢
