The Underline partnered with the Miami Downtown Development Authority and the Miami-Dade Beacon Council to host a Legislative Update Panel with the Miami-Dade County State Legislative Delegation.

Senator Jones began serving in the Florida House of Representatives in November 2012, serving until 2020, when he successfully ran for and won election to the Florida Senate. A position he held until his resignation in 2026.

Representative Wallace Aristide and the Miami Northwestern Senior High Alumni Association (MNWAA) joined Governor Ron DeSantis for the ceremonial signing of SB 246: Specialty License Plates.
Making Miami Northwestern among the first Public High Schools in Florida to have a Specialty License plate.
Co-introduced by Chairwoman Ana Maria Rodriguez, SB 246 incorporates language from related legislation sponsored by Senator Shevrin “Shev” Jones, Representative Fabian Basabe, and Representative Wallace Aristide.

It also authorizes new specialty license plates supporting several Miami-Dade organizations and institutions, including the Miami Northwestern Alumni Association, Christopher Columbus High School, Miami Dade College, and Florida Film Legacy.

Two bills, both sponsored by Senator Bryan Avila, SB 4-F, Property Tax Administration, and SJR 2-F, Save Our Homes from Excessive Property Taxes passed.
