This week at the Fire Rescue Training Center, participants are taking part in ASIST (Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training), a two-day workshop focused on recognizing when someone may be at risk of su***de and taking immediate action to support their safety. The training, conducted by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Peer Support Team, equips attendees with practical skills to identify warning signs, engage in meaningful intervention, and develop a plan for ongoing care, a process known as su***de first aid. Their commitment to learning these life-saving skills reflects a shared dedication to protecting not only the communities they serve, but also one another. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue commends all participants for their willingness to step forward and be part of such a critical conversation.

For three days the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Employee Wellness Office team had the privilege of connecting with fellow brothers and sisters during our CISM/Peer Support Training.
Led by our own instructor, Lt. Alex Trinchet, the experience fostered a strong sense of unity through meaningful exercises, valuable insights, and open dialogue. Each moment reinforced our shared commitment to supporting one another and better serving our colleagues. As a powerful reminder echoed throughout the training: it’s not about us—it’s about them.
