This morning the NFD responded to a garbage truck fire in north Napa. This incident is a good reminder to properly dispose of lithium-ion batteries, hot ashes or smoldering items. Please do not discard them into the trash as they can ignite either in the truck contents (as in this case) or can create a problem at the transfer station.
Safely dispose of these items at localized drop-off points. For proper disposal please visit Napa Recycling & Waste Services

Recently, the Napa Interagency Rescue Team (NIRT) conducted a unique and challenging rescue training exercise at the First Street Hotel project in downtown Napa.
Utilizing the site's 150-foot tower cranes, team members trained on a simulated rescue involving a crane operator who had suffered a medical emergency while working at height. The scenario required the rescuers to access the operator and safely lower them to the ground, testing both technical rescue skills and ingenuity.
This training provided valuable experience in a complex environment and helped ensure our team remains prepared for emergencies in any setting.
A special thank you to The Build Group for allowing us to use the site and for their outstanding support throughout the exercise. Partnerships like these help us strengthen our capabilities and better serve our community.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.
Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
From all of us at Napa Fire Department, thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who carry their legacy forward.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Joe Russo on a well deserved retirement after 27 years! Joe leaves a huge legacy in NFD, from being leader of many programs like Hands Only CPR and CERT. Joe was also a very active member in the firefighters union NCFA local 3124. He was also a mentor to many of our firefighters, a great friend and best cook on A shift! His professionalism, dedication and work ethic were some of the many attributes that made him a great firefighter, but most importantly an awesome member of the Napa Fire Department family. Joe, best of luck in the next chapter and we all thank you! Happy retirement!

Flash (with Captain Devon) is a 4-year-old, male, American Pit Bull. While Flash is a new face at the shelter and we are still discovering all of his wonderful quirks, he has already proven to be a total sweetheart. Flash has spent part of his days with the Shelter Manager as she works in her office. He either entertains himself with toys or you'll find him asleep. He is also incredibly social and greets every new friend with a wagging tail and an enthusiastic smile. At a perfectly manageable 47 lbs, Flash is the ideal size for both outdoor adventures and indoor snuggles. Flash is also a "gentle soul" who takes treats with a soft mouth and patiently waits at his kennel door, quietly watching for the hero he can call his new best friend.
If you’re looking for a loyal, well-mannered companion, Flash is ready and waiting to meet you!

Meet Makoa and Cameron! This 6-month-old male Labrador (Makoa) is a total sweetheart who is just starting his journey to find a forever home. Though he is shy at first, Makoa’s brave side comes out the moment he sees a friendly face or smells a tasty treat. Once he knows you’re a friend, he’s all about the tail wags and leans in close for all the pets he can get.
In true puppy fashion, Makoa is a curious explorer with a playful spirit. He’s currently working hard on his leash skills and shows improvement with every walk. He still has that soft puppy fur and the best "puppy breath,". Whether he's zooming around with a toy or curling up for a nap after a big day of learning, Makoa is sure to bring endless joy and a few happy "puppy dreams" to his lucky new family.

Theodore, pictured here with FF/Paramedic Felix, is a 12-year-old, male Orange Tabby cat. This sweet senior boy is looking for a cozy place to spend his golden years. He's a calm, easygoing companion who enjoys the simple things in life-soft beds, sunny spots, and gentle pets. He has a kind, soulful presence and loves being near his people, quietly keeping you company throughout the day. He may be a little slower-paced these days, but he still has plenty of love to give. He'd do best in a peaceful home where he can relax and be cherished. If you're looking for a low-maintenance, affectionate friend with a heart of gold, this distinguished guy is ready to be your perfect match.

Kojack is a 3-month-old male Shepherd puppy! As a new arrival, Kojack is still waiting on his final rounds of puppy shots, so he hasn’t started his leash-walking adventures just yet. But that hasn’t stopped him from becoming excited every time someone stops by his kennel, he’s right at the door with a wagging tail, ready for all the head scratches and treats you’re willing to give. He is the ultimate social butterfly with that classic, playful puppy energy. If you’re looking for a friendly, happy-go-lucky companion to grow up with your family, Kojack is your guy!

Adopt with NFD! Please join us in supporting the Napa County Animal Shelter during the month of December. Help all the shelter animals get adopted by sharing, liking, talking about all of these adorable animals! Adopt, don’t shop, and help these animals find their furever home. Here is Moose, Panda, and Buddy! EXTERNAL]
Moose is a 2-year-old male Pit Bull and approximately 77 lbs. Moose is searching for a new home through no fault of his own. He was part of a larger group of seven dogs at the shelter, and circumstances meant his previous owner could only reclaim two of the dogs. Moose and four of his best friends (Buddy, Panda, Diva, and Kara) are ready for adoption! These pups love playtime; their group sessions are quite the “pitty party!” Moose, like his brothers, is an absolute dream on walks—easy to manage and unbothered by other barking dogs. He is incredibly affectionate, staying right by your side like Velcro. While he might be a little timid when first adjusting to busy outside noises, his loving personality shines brightly. Moose is a volunteer favorite, having already charmed everyone at the shelter, and now eagerly awaits a loving home where he can be a devoted companion. Panda is a 2-year-ole male Pit Bull and approximately 62 lbs. Panda is searching for a new home through no fault of his own. He was part of a larger group of seven dogs at the shelter, and circumstances meant his previous owner could only reclaim two of the dogs. Now, Panda and four of his best friends (Moose, Buddy, Diva, and Kara) are also up for adoption! These pups love playtime; their group sessions are quite the “pitty party!” Panda is a real charmer! He’s making great strides in his leash training and is cool and completely unfazed by other barking dogs. In the play yards, he’s a fetching enthusiast. But his true calling is affection: he’s an incredible Velcro dog who loves staying right by your side.
