Members of our Roosevelt Island Older Adult Center gathered in the garden for a cooking demonstration with Cook Louella and volunteer Sally, exploring the rich flavors of Mediterranean potato salad alongside fresh vegetables.
The hands-on experience sparked curiosity and appreciation for different cultures through cuisine, with laughter and conversation filling the air as everyone gathered around to see, learn, and taste.
The afternoon was full of smiles, connection, and a shared appreciation for food, culture, and community. 🍅

In recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, our Community Elder Mistreatment & Abuse Prevention Program (CEMAPP) Director, Margaret Woods, and her team spoke at the Bill Dionne Older Adult Center. Their presentation centered on raising awareness, sharing valuable information, and empowering older adults to recognize and prevent elder abuse.
We were grateful to everyone who attended and participated in the discussion. As a token of appreciation, attendees received special gift bags from CBN at the event's conclusion.
Together, we can help create safer, stronger, and more informed communities for older adults.

June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month!
Every older adult deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported. Carter Burden Network's Community Elder Mistreatment & Abuse Prevention Program (CEMAPP) helps older adults throughout New York City address elder abuse through safety planning, counseling, legal guidance, court advocacy, and community education.
By raising awareness, we can help ensure that older adults do not suffer in silence and know that help is available. Together, we can create communities where aging happens with dignity and respect.
