How often do you see giant inflatable ballot boxes and dancing yellow puppets? Yeah, that just was us getting out the People’s Money vote at Brooklyn Pride this weekend.
Alongside CEC Commissioner & CEO of DoSomething DeNora Getachew, we spent the day helping New Yorkers make their voice heard through citywide participatory budgeting.
From conversations at our festival booth to our Sunny puppets dancing through the crowds, we connected with Brooklynites about the opportunity to help decide how city funding is invested in communities across the five boroughs. Festival-goers stopped by for games, giveaways, and, most importantly, to cast their votes.
We wrapped up the day marching in the parade with fellow city agencies, nonprofits, and local groups, celebrating a tradition rooted in community, visibility, and collective action. 🏳️🌈
If you weren’t able to vote with us in-person, don’t worry! You can VOTE ONLINE through this Sunday at on.nyc.gov/pb 🔗
