Non-profit enhancing life in Park Slope. A Force for Good in the Neighborhood. Without the Civic Council, the Park Slope we know today would not exist.

The Park Slope Civic Council nurtures, defends, celebrates, and invigorates this community we call home. In the 1950s and 1960s, we organized to stop urban renewal’s bulldozers, fought bank redlining, planted thousands of trees, and launched our annual House Tour to present Park Slope as an alternative to would-be suburbanites. In 1973, we secured our neighborhood’s future when we won designation

Who’s someone in Park Slope we should know?

We’re looking for more neighbors to feature in People of Park Slope, our new series celebrating the people who make this neighborhood what it is 💚

So far, we’ve talked with Lenny, whose hidden Park Slope garage is full of classic cars and incredible stories 🚗, and Tim Gilles, whose deep connection to the Civic Council and the House Tour helps bring so much of the neighborhood’s history to life 🏡

Now we’d love your help.

Do you know a longtime resident, small business owner, artist, educator, volunteer, community leader, or just someone with a great Park Slope story to tell? Send us a DM or email us their name, along with a few lines about why they’d be a great fit 📬

We’re especially excited to meet people we might not otherwise have the chance to know 😊

Wow! What a great 🚲 day. Thanks to the volunteers, community partners and local organizations who helped make our second Community Cycling Day a success.
It was a fun and educational afternoon focused on cycling safety, street awareness, and community engagement, with 900+ helmets given away. Can’t wait to make Community Cycling Day an annual tradition!! And thanks to for the great 📸

To the moms in our lives on Mother’s Day (and every day), thank you! And to those who are missing your mom, longing to be a mom, navigating a difficult relationship, or just finding today a little tough, we’re thinking of you too.

Lenny’s Classic Cars, what a success!

Last week Lenny hosted us at his garage, which is one of Park Slope’s hidden treasures. He shared his legendary collection, built over decades and full of history, craftsmanship, and personality.

Thanks Lenny for making it such a warm, memorable, and distinctly Park Slope evening. And thank you to everyone who joined us!
