News From the Stacks - Research Guides @ Fordham at Fordham University Libraries Each June, Pride Month invites us to both commemorate the past and celebrate the present — honoring the struggles and triumphs of LGBTQ+ communities, while uplifting q***r voices and stories that enrich our understanding of identity, love, and belonging. 

Visit the 1st Floor of Quinn Library to see our newest book display, "Nate's Nook," which honors our beloved colleague, Nathan ("Nate") Bahny, who passed away suddenly in February 2026. This circulating collection features books Nate borrowed during his Library days. We encourage you to check it out, lounge, and read quietly for a few minutes, as Nate would have.

Born June 6, 1756, John Trumbull helped shape how the American Revolution is remembered. As we count down to , we’re proud to hold Trumbull’s original drawings in our Archives, including studies related to his iconic Revolutionary War scenes painted after serving as an aide to George Washington. Check out some of Trumbull's work here and browse through more available online in our digital archives.

June 4th marks one month to go, USA!
In just 30 days, the United States turns 250 on July 4. We’re officially in countdown mode, and we’ll be sharing history highlights, collection gems, and a few fun surprises along the way. Stay tuned! 🎆

After weeks of heavy reading and long study sessions, now is the perfect time to pick up something lighter, funnier, or more relaxing.

Great presentation from Alexa Sanders, Gabriella DiMeglio, and
Kirsten Lee-Javadi last week on Faculty Tech Day! In their presentation, "Preparing for the Future While Perfecting our Present: Academic Libraries Move Forward Without Leaving it all Behind," they explored how library practice embodies the cura personalis ideal, balancing emerging technologies with traditional access and services, while highlighting the value of authentic connection.

This Memorial Day, we remember with gratitude all who have died serving their country.

Happy 115th birthday to the New York Public Library! 🎉On this day in 1911, NYPL officially opened on 5th Avenue. Between 30,000-50,000 New Yorkers visited the library on its opening day, and the shelves were already stocked with over 1,000,000 books. Today, NYPL has grown to 92 branches and over 51 million circulating items. That's a lot of books 📚
