This is the official page for the National Organization of Legal Services Workers, UAW Local 2320. We are the union for advocates.

The National Organization of Legal Services Workers (NOLSW), UAW Local 2320, is the union representing the majority of those who work in federally-funded legal services programs across the USA. We also represent workers in other types of law offices, advocacy organizations and in various human/social services programs. Founded in 1978, NOLSW has grown from a handful of independent unions in civil

"Staff at local nonprofit law firm ABC for Health are excited to share that they have unionized, joining UAW Region 4, NOLSW Local 2320. Says one of their staff attorneys, Tim Hennigan, “I think everyone at ABC has the same primary goal: keeping ABC’s client services available to marginalized Wisconsin families. There’s no ABC without client services, and there are no client services without us.”
The Employer has refused to voluntarily recognize the Workers as a Union, even though 100% of the workforce signed union authorization cards, therefore their Union NLRB election is scheduled for June 17, in Madison Wisconsin.
Send your solidarity and support to the Workers, who soon officially will be part of our UAW Region 4 family!"

To our community, the agencies we partner with, and the funders who support our endeavors, we would like to share an update regarding our contract.

We began preparations to bargain in June 2025 for a contract that expired at the end of September 2025.

Now, in nearly May 2026, we have no new contract and next to no progress. Management continues to undervalue our members and their contributions to the JARC mission that no working family shall live in poverty. The hypocrisy of management knows no bounds. The explosive increases in rent, groceries, gas, and more, far outweigh the pennies they’ve offered. Upper Management continues to receive their own raises at seven or eight percent annually.

JARC union members are the backbone of the organization and deserve the same opportunity for upward financial mobility that we seek for our trainees. Social service workers across the board deserve the same dignity they work to ensure for others.

Currently upper management favors a strategy of unchecked national growth at the cost of union members’ ability to secure financial stability. Their lack of intention, efforts, and concern for union members and their financial well-being is obvious and inappropriate.Their union busting lawyer cries impasse at every corner, while we continue to meet them across the table with reasonable offers.

As we near a year of bargaining activity, we thank you for your continuing support and solidarity as we navigate these turbulent waters.

This Women’s History Month, the Women’s Department is proud to honor women whose advocacy, leadership, and commitment to justice strengthen our union and the communities we serve.

Please join us in celebrating Heidi Wegleitner, Region 4 – UAW Local 2320. Through her work and dedication, Heidi exemplifies the power of solidarity, collective bargaining, and standing up for fair working conditions while advancing justice for others.

Heidi’s favorite quote reflects her deep commitment to labor rights and equity:
“As legal aid workers, we may have chosen the public interest over our private gain, but we deserve a union and good working conditions like every other worker. I’m so proud to organize, mobilize, and bargain in solidarity with NOLSW members across our country. Day after day, we seek justice for our clients and justice for our members.”

Thank you, Heidi, for your leadership, courage, and steadfast dedication to fairness, solidarity, and justice in the labor movement.

Today we honor Gloria Johnson, a powerful woman leader who embodies dedication, strength, and solidarity. As Vice Chair at Heartland Human Care Services, she has spent 12 years advocating for workers through UAW–NOLSW, Human Service Workers Local 2320.

Her commitment to uplifting and protecting human service workers reminds us that progress is built through unity and persistence. As she so powerfully believes: “United we stand, divided we fall.”

Thank you, Gloria. for standing up, speaking out, and leading with purpose.
