Today, we honor Juneteenth. At The Child Center of NY, we believe that every child and family deserves access to the skills, opportunities, and support to build a healthy, successful life. That work is inseparable from the work of equity. 🖤❤️💚

As Clinical Coordinator at The Child Center of NY, Therese Despeine, LMFT-D, wears many hats: guiding clients through the admissions process, maintaining her own caseload, supervising clinicians and interns, and helping make behavioral health services more accessible across our programs. She also draws on her own experience as the child of Haitian immigrants to build trust with families navigating challenges both old and new. In this Team Spotlight, Therese reflects on the power of culturally responsive care, the importance of planting seeds of growth, and the lasting impact of believing in someone's potential before they can see it for themselves.

We loved hosting 19 families at our “Parents Teach Parents” workshop at Early Head Start Woodside! This series empowers parents to share their talents, support one another, and grow their passions into potential opportunities
This month, our parent leader, Guadalupe Peña, led a self-care workshop where parents learned how to do manicures and create exfoliating hand scrubs, creating a relaxing, joyful space for families to unwind and connect.

In honor of Maternal Mental Health Month, we’re celebrating the beauty of the parent-child bond.
This Photo of the Month features a sweet moment between a mom and baby in The Child Center of NY’s Macari Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Program, where pregnant people and new parents receive compassionate mental health support in a safe, welcoming environment.
Because sometimes the most meaningful moments are the simplest ones: reading, learning, and growing together.
