On May 29, NYC Smoke-Free partnered with The Poet Life and the African American To***co Control Leadership Council (AATCLC) to host the 2026 NYC NO Menthol Poetry event at Mother AME Zion Church.
The evening brought together youth and adult poets, community members, advocates, and partners for a powerful night of spoken word, storytelling, and community. We are incredibly proud of all the performers who took the stage and used their voices to educate, inspire, and ultimately challenge the to***co industry — their passionate and creative voices protect our communities and pave the way toward a to***co-free future.
Thank you to our sponsors, partners, volunteers, and all those who attended and helped make this night a success. Together, we are protecting our lives, protecting our lungs, and protecting our stories.

This past weekend, Public Health Solutions was proud to stand alongside the LGBTQ+ communities of Western Queens at the Sunny Pride Festival—celebrating pride and access to care.
We connected with residents to share information about PHS programs and services that support health, well-being, and equitable access to care across New York City.
Events like Sunny Pride provide an important opportunity to foster connections, uplift LGBTQ+ voices, and ensure communities have access to the information and support they need to thrive. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn more about our work and the many resources available throughout New York City. Together, we continue building healthier, more inclusive communities for all.

Join us for a webinar on the New York State Budget as part of our Public Health Under Pressure event series.
Bringing together public health leaders, community-based organizations (CBOs), and government representatives, the conversation will break down key funding decisions, highlight gaps, and explore how these choices will impact services, workforce capacity, and health outcomes of everyday New Yorkers.
The discussion will also connect state-level decisions to real-world implications—examining how the budget shapes the work of CBOs, influences priorities in New York City, and signals what may lie ahead for local public health systems.

Maternal mental health flourishes in community.
Our Caminando Juntas (Walking Together) support group kicked off its spring cycle by connecting, sharing, and uplifting one another. This group creates a space where mothers can come together, talk openly about their experiences and challenges, and be reminded that they are not alone.
During Awareness Month, we recognize the importance of connection, care, and support for parents. Visit our website to learn more about our offerings: https://bit.ly/4dCxReB

Today, Public Health Solutions rallied alongside the the Human Health Services Council of NY to support Int 0452 (Wage Equity Legislation) sponsored by Council Member Althea Stevens, which would help close the pay gap and advance for our workers.
By creating a new wage requirement system that aligns nonprofit and City salaries, Int 0452 goes beyond short-term fixes. It creates an entirely new system that supports wage equity for the long haul.
It’s simple: equal work deserves equal wages.
