Today we commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, an announcement of General Order No. 3 by Union Army general Gordon Granger, proclaimed freedom for slaves in Texas.

Guttman is closed today as we celebrate this federal holiday.

Reflecting back on Rossana Rosado's book talk at Guttman (hosted by NBC News journalist Darlene Rodriguez, we're feeling inspired by Rossana's answers to audience questions about how the Bronx has influenced her, how to overcome imposter syndrome, how to change the narrative and more. Let's start the week with some of that "Bronx Attitude" energy!

Happy Caribbean Heritage Month! Guttman's amazing Caribbean Student Association kicked us off with excellent vibes, culture, music and food. Students went on a full tour of the Caribbean here on campus, visiting different islands and getting their "passport" stamped with the flag of that island. We love celebrating our community's heritage! 🌴
