✨ Save the Date ✨
Thirty years ago, New Yorkers For Children was founded by Nicholas Scoppetta, New York City's first ACS Commissioner, with a simple but powerful vision: to ensure that young people in foster care receive support when critical needs fall outside what the system can provide.
For three decades, NYFC has stood with young people as they navigate the challenges and interruptions that foster care can bring, helping them access opportunities, overcome barriers, and build successful futures.
None of this would be possible without the New Yorkers who stand with us—and with the young people we serve.
Please join us on Monday, November 9, 2026, as we celebrate 30 years of impact and look ahead to the next chapter.

From setback to graduation.
Latricia is a student at BMCC who is graduating this spring and continuing her studies at Lehman College as a nursing major.
Last year, unexpected challenges forced her to withdraw from classes, leaving her with a bill she couldn’t afford. Through NYFC’s Emergency Assistance Program, she was able to cover her tuition and stay on track.
Today, she’s moving forward, continuing her education, working, and staying connected through NYFC’s Youth Advisory Board.
Stories like Latricia’s are a reminder that the right support at the right time can change everything.

Thank you to Accenture for hosting our annual Network to Success event.
This experience gave young people in our programs the opportunity to explore new career pathways, engage directly with professionals, and gain insight into the role technology plays across industries.
Opportunities like this are critical in helping young people build confidence, expand their networks, and envision their futures.
We are grateful to the Accenture team for their partnership and commitment to supporting the next generation.

Congratulations to Covenant House International and New York City Council on announcing Cash with Care, a guaranteed income program for young people experiencing homelessness. This historic investment builds on a growing body of evidence from direct cash transfer pilots, including one focused on youth aged out of foster care developed in partnership with the Children’s Defense Fund, YouthNPower, and NYFC. We’re proud to have played a role in demonstrating what young people with lived experience have long known: when you trust youth with resources and agency, the results are real, measurable, and scalable. This is what systems change looks like. Learn more via https://council.nyc.gov/press/2025/12/22/3037/

This New Year, not only are we looking ahead with hope, but reflecting with deep gratitude. This year, NYFC has helped provide stability, support, and opportunity for hundreds of young people aging out of the city’s foster care system. There is still time to make a difference to these young people, with a tax-deductible donation in 2025 through the link here: https://www.newyorkersforchildren.org/fillingthegap/.
Take a look at some of the change you helped create, and hear from the young people we serve.

As the year comes to a close, many of us are thinking ahead to our resolutions and goals for the new year. Young people transitioning from foster care are doing the same, while managing school, work, and the rising cost of living with very little room for error.
NYFC’s Emergency Grants help close those gaps. We offer fast, flexible support that keeps young people moving forward when an unexpected expense could otherwise slow them down.
As one recipient told us, it helped them "move forward instead of falling behind." Help NYC youth enter the new year with stability and possibility here: https://www.newyorkersforchildren.org/fillingthegap/.
