This new grant program helps museums across the country build stronger connections with their communities and invest in mission-aligned initiatives. After a competitive review process, we’re proud to be selected as one of only six recipients.

One of the many mysteries of the Museum at Eldridge Street’s Main Sanctuary is its five-pointed stars set against a blue backdrop. Why not a six-point Star of David? There are a few theories: a nod to American patriotism and the U.S. flag, a reference to the descendants of biblical patriarch Abraham being as countless as the stars, or a reminder of the Jewish wedding tradition of standing beneath the night sky. However you interpret them, the stars add another layer of beauty and meaning to this remarkable space.
