Visit the Museum housed in the magnificently restored 1887 Eldridge Street Synagogue.

The Museum at Eldridge Street is housed in the 1887 Eldridge Street Synagogue, a magnificent National Historic Landmark that has been meticulously restored. Exhibits, tours, cultural events and educational programs tell the story of Jewish immigrant life at the turn of the last century, explore architecture and historic preservation, inspire reflection on cultural continuity, and foster collaboration and exchange between people of all faiths, heritages and interests.

We’re pleased to share that the Museum at Eldridge Street has been selected to receive a grant from the Museum Travel Alliance

This new grant program helps museums across the country build stronger connections with their communities and invest in mission-aligned initiatives. After a competitive review process, we’re proud to be selected as one of only six recipients.

This grant will directly support our annual Egg Rolls, Egg Creams, and Empanadas Street Festival. Thank you to the Museum Travel Alliance for your support!

One of the many mysteries of the Museum at Eldridge Street’s Main Sanctuary is its five-pointed stars set against a blue backdrop. Why not a six-point Star of David? There are a few theories: a nod to American patriotism and the U.S. flag, a reference to the descendants of biblical patriarch Abraham being as countless as the stars, or a reminder of the Jewish wedding tradition of standing beneath the night sky. However you interpret them, the stars add another layer of beauty and meaning to this remarkable space.

Which theory is your favorite? Come inspect for yourself. Book your visit at eldridgestreet.org
