Yoga brings River Edge together.

The Borough of River Edge and the Consulate General of India in New York celebrated International Day of Yoga in River Edge with diverse participation from Yoga enthusiasts. Consul Pragya Singh attended the event highlighting Yoga's message of health, harmony and togetherness.

Our special gratitude to Councilwoman and Yoga Instructor Priti Dhariwal for her leadership and dedication to making this celebration a meaningful success.

CG Binaya S. Pradhan welcomed Director IIT Kanpur, Prof. Manindra Agrawal & Dr. Anil K. Lalwani , Founding Dean of the Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology at IIT Kanpur.

CG appreciated that Dr Lalwani, an Indian American distinguished physician-scientist & Professor at Columbia University along with his wife are shifting to Kanpur for this assignment with determination to developing it as a World class institution.

The Consulate General of India, New York hosted an event on IIT Kanpur’s Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology, a pioneering initiative bringing together medicine, engineering and AI together.

➡️ Consul General Binaya S. Pradhan highlighted the expanding India–U.S. healthcare partnership with participation of leading U.S. medical institutions.

➡️ Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director, IIT Kanpur, delivered the vision address; spoke about the ambitious plans of IITK and the Gangwal School. He also appreciated the support of alumni in major initiatives of IITK.

➡️ Dr. Anil Lalwani, Inaugural Dean, introduced the School’s interdisciplinary mission and emphasized that the Gangwal school will emerge as a Global Centre of Excellence .

➡️ The panel discussion, “Medicine Reimagined: Engineering the Future of Health,” featured Dr. Ashutosh (Ash) K. Tewari, Dr. Dev Joneja and Prof. Manindra Agrawal, and was moderated by Dr. Lalwani.

➡️ Panelists noted the confluence of medicine, engineering, data science and AI with potential to accelerate healthcare innovation, translational research, medical devices, digital health solutions and affordable care at scale.

➡️ Mr. Deepak Raj, Chairman, IIT Kanpur Foundation, delivered the closing remarks, reaffirming the role of the IIT Kanpur alumni network in supporting global partnerships and institution-building
