Earlier today GCCS held its 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York Public Library, celebrating as our 50 8th graders ended their GCCS journey to begin a new chapter of their lives in high school. The morning event included the presentation of awards and certificates, student performances ~ even the tossing of caps! Congratulations to our students and their families, and to GCCS teachers and staff who accompanied them throughout these years of learning.

Our Middle School students celebrated this week's Spring Break with some "Spring Fling" fun ~ some dressing up and lots of dancing ~ this past Friday, May 22.

to our Second Graders who sang during an assembly program on Friday, May 22, about choosing happiness as they daily deal with recognizing, understanding, labeling, expressing and regulating their emotions. At that same assembly, our Third Graders celebrated being "Thinkers" as learners, showcasing some of the ways they demonstrate teamwork in the classroom.

On Saturday, May 16, Global Community Charter School held an Orientation for families of incoming Elementary School students, Pre-K through Fourth Grade. After GCCS Executive Director Kristan Norgrove and Elementary School Principal Brenda Daniels shared information about learning and life at GCCS, there was a tour of the school followed by fun for the children, including face painting, cotton candy, balloon making, and a magic show.
