Using the Made In Memphis STAX Records reissue series as a case study, Powell walks through the mastering process, discusses working from original analog master tapes, and highlights the challenges - and occasional “buttercuts” - of creating records that truly shine on vinyl.

The workshops and tutorials at the 2026 AES International Conference on Audio for Virtual and Augmented Reality and Immersive Games bring together practitioners and researchers from an extraordinary range of organisations — Apple, Google, Meta, Dolby, Fraunhofer, Genelec, Eventide, Huawei, Nokia, Yamaha — alongside leading academic and research centres including NYU, Queen Mary University of London, the University of York, the University of Salford, Sorbonne University, Istanbul Technical University, Trinity College Dublin, and the University of Malaga, among others.

This isn't a line-up of people describing the field from a distance. These are the engineers, scientists, and designers actively building it — bringing direct, hands-on expertise in spatial audio, binaural rendering, game audio, immersive codecs, and XR production workflows straight to the attendees.
