Associated Students Elections 2016
Vote on April 13 - 14! Matadors United believes in 4 pillars: Sustainability, Communication, Campus Life, and Advocacy.
Under Sustainability we plan on working with our campus partner to decreases the amount of green lawns we have on campus. California is in a drought and we must do everything in our power to aid in this cause. Additionally, we plan on creating a bike rental program on campus. With the creation of the Bike Shop this spring and Great Streets Initiative that Mayor Eric Garcetti has implemented this w
ill aid in our attempt to solve the parking issue on campus by incentivizing bike usage. Under our Communication pillar we plan on continuing the 100 day Initiative that was set forth by our team last year. The purpose of this Initiative was to inform students about who AS is, what AS does, and how they can get involved. We plan to take it one step further by visiting 100 Clubs and Orgs in 100 days and give similar presentations to further the reach of AS. In addition we plan on implementing a program during the Club and Orgs Recognition day to educate them on how to be more inclusive within their respective groups. In regards to Campus life, we want to bring a Legal Clinic to CSUN. Different CSU's across the system like Chico state have a similar program and its about time we get one too! We also want to advocate for more flexibility with the SAP scores. Currently CSUN students must pass 80% of all their course work to continue receiving financial aid. We will work with the Provost to come up with a viable solution to continue to support our students to increase our graduation rates. Under advocacy, we plan on playing a very active role at the California State Student Association (CSSA). We plan on visiting legislators at the local and state level and advocate for more money into the CSU system. With the ending of Prop 30 and the potential tuition increases, it is important to have the veteran leadership that Matadors United provides to help guide us towards a viable solution. We also plan on advocating at a university level for the increased level of diversity within our faculty and staff. Lastly, we plan on advocating for gender neutral bathrooms and increasing the amount throughout CSUN's campus. We have the passion, the drive and the determination to represent you within Associated Students and be the change you want to see. A vote for us is a vote for Matadors United, and united we will listen to you.
