CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, trains, empowers, and inspires volunteer advocates to improve the lives of abused and neglected children.

CASA was established in the Omaha area in 1998 at the urging of area judges. As we reflect on this important moment in history, we also recognize the ongoing work of building a more equitable future for all children and families. At CASA for Douglas County, we remain committed to advocacy and equality. Happy Juneteenth!

A CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is a trained community volunteer appointed by a judge to advocate for the best interests of a child impacted by the child welfare system. CASA Volunteer Advocates gather information, build relationships, attend court hearings, and help ensure a child's voice is amplified and their needs remain at the forefront of important decisions. By providing consistent support and advocacy, CASAs help bring stability and a trusted voice to children experiencing uncertainty.

Healthy smiles matter! Through our partnership with OneWorld Smiles Mobile, 15 children who have been impacted by the child welfare system received dental exams and cleanings over the last few weeks. Several children also completed needed follow-up treatment, helping ensure they received more comprehensive dental care! Removing barriers to care helps children access the services they need to stay healthy and thrive.
Thank you to our partners at OneWorld for helping make this possible and for supporting the well-being of the children we serve.
