🌼 June is National Pollinator Month! 🐝🦋
Have you been wanting to start a pollinator garden but aren’t sure where to begin? Curious about the incredible diversity of pollinators that call Central Florida home?
Join us tomorrow evening at Maitland Community Park for an engaging workshop all about creating pollinator-friendly landscapes and supporting our local pollinator populations. Participants will leave with their own wildflower seed packet to help get started at home!

Join us for a two-part, in-person workshop all about roselle (sorrel)—a vibrant, edible hibiscus and Florida-friendly crop! Through engaging discussions and hands-on activities, you’ll learn roselle’s history and significance, along with best practices for growing, caring for, harvesting, and processing this versatile plant in your home garden.
Participants will take home their very own roselle plant and gain practical experience harvesting and preparing it for refreshing teas, flavorful jams, and other homemade treats. Whether you’re looking to expand your edible landscape, support pollinators, or try something new in the garden, this workshop will equip you with the skills to grow and enjoy this remarkable crop.

Have you had a chance to visit our Downtown Orlando UF Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Gardens? Located at the Orange County Administration Building on the corner of S. Rosalind Ave and E. South St, this garden is comprised almost entirely of Florida native species, showcasing the beauty and resilience of our local ecosystems right in the heart of downtown.
Maintained by a dedicated group of faculty, staff, and Master Gardener Volunteers, we meet once a month to care for the garden and to explore the ecological importance and unique value of the species onsite.
If you’re downtown, stop by and take a look—you might be surprised how much life and learning is packed into this small green space!
