While the South Eola neighborhood is not in a historic district, we love our downtown and its history. If you watch Commissioner Patty Sheehan make her presentation from today's council meeting you can see it IS possible to develop and revitalize downtown, without throwing away what we've managed to save. Other amazing cities have proven it's possible. Although the vote carried, we will continue to be optimistic. We will continue to work with our fellow Orlandoans in their preservation efforts. π
Comm. Sheehan speaks at about 2hrs 30min into the meeting which you can watch online here, it is currently still in progress:

This rainbow over the neighborhood today was a beautiful reminder of love, hope, and the enduring spirit of our community.
We remember the 49 lives taken at Pulse, honor the survivors, and stand with the families, friends, and community members whose lives were touched by this tragedy.
A decade later, we continue to choose love over hate, unity over division, and reaffirm our commitment to building a community where everyone belongs.

Sure to be met with divided opinions, the health and safety of the wildlife at Lake Eola Park is the primary concern here and we should all agree on that, even if we differ on how to see it through.β€οΈ

Do you park downtown? Changes may be on their way! In South Eola and across Downtown Orlando, our local businesses rely on resident foot traffic as much as visitors needing parking. Shared at yesterday's city council meeting (to be discussed in May & June) what do you think about the proposed changes?
