Today, we honor Juneteenth, the day enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

We celebrate Black history, Black excellence, and the generations of activists, organizers, and everyday people who continue to push our country closer to its founding promise of liberty and justice for all.

Did you know that elections for School Board races are on August 18th? Today, we partnered with the Orange County Democratic Black Caucus to knock doors for Angie Gallo, running for School Board Chair!

Our team was honored to join Human Rights Campaign, Equality Florida, and GIFFORDS for an important panel discussion on the progress, challenges, and path forward in the 10 years since the Pulse Tragedy.

Today, we remember the 49 lives stolen in the tragedy at Pulse and honor the survivors, families, friends, and first responders whose lives were forever changed.

We will never forget the 49. May we continue to lift up the survivors. And may we always carry forward the spirit of love, unity, and compassion that defines Orlando.

The 2026 State of the County address was a powerful tribute to all the work and successes under Mayor Demings’s tenure. We’re grateful for the inspired leadership of our Board of County Commissioners and other local elected officials.
