It's World Giraffe Day AND Father's Day, so we wanted to celebrate with Miguu, but unfortunately, he's not a fan of his food being shaped like a waffle 🙃

As part of the Masai Giraffe Species Survival Plan, Miguu has sired six calves at the Phoenix Zoo, all of which have been females! He fathered five calves with Sunshine (Siku, Moshi, Luna, Aurora and Kasi) and one with Imara (Rafiki).

Help us celebrate Father's Day and World Giraffe Day by supporting the Zoo's Wish List! You can donate directly to the department of your choice. Visit https://www.phoenixzoo.org/support/wish-list/ for more information!

Happy World Eagle Day! 🦅

The Phoenix Zoo is home to two species of eagles, the bald eagle and the golden eagle. All five of the eagles at the Zoo were rescued with serious injuries and deemed unfit to return to the wild by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services. We are fortunate to provide a safe home for the eagles in addition to the attentive care of their keepers! You can visit four of the eagles on the Arizona Trail, while the fifth one serves as an ambassador animal, often seen in the daily presentations or with our outreach program.

You can make a difference today in the care for the eagles and other species at the Phoenix Zoo by donating to our Wish List. Visit https://www.phoenixzoo.org/support/wish-list/ for more information.

In honor of Juneteenth, the Phoenix Zoo recognizes and celebrates the emancipation of those who were still enslaved two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by President Lincoln. We proudly honor this valuable day of reflection and commemoration in the United States.

It's World Croc Day! 🐊

Everyone at the Phoenix Zoo, regardless of their role, can participate in conservation around the world! Two of our educators, Yasmine and Ben, recently went on a trip to Palencia, Belize with the Crocodile Research Coalition.
