As we approach the Fourth of July and other celebrations, we want to remind our community that ALL fireworks, including "safe and sane" types, are illegal in the City of Pomona.
The use of fireworks is not only dangerous to users but to others nearby, including homes and structures. Think about our veterans, children, pets, neighbors, and community. Help keep Pomona safe by reporting individuals using, possessing, or selling fireworks.
Residents may submit a fireworks complaint via text. Please text our Dispatch Center at 909-643-4447.

Today, our very own Detective F. Flores proudly represented the Pomona Police Department at the 2026 United States Police & Fire Championships in San Diego. 🇺🇸🚔
Also known as the California Police Olympics, this annual event brings together law enforcement and fire service personnel from across the nation to compete in more than 50 sports. Detective Flores competed in the highly competitive cycling road race and earned an impressive second-place finish! 🥈🚴♂️
Congratulations, Detective Flores! We are proud to have you represent our department. 👏

On May 17, 2026, at approximately 1:37 AM, officers responded to the area of E. 2nd St. and S. Reservoir St. regarding a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a 35-year-old male suffering from a stab wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Due to the nature of this incident, investigators from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and began an extensive investigation. During the course of their investigation, they identified the suspect as 41-year-old Matthew Martinez of Diamond Bar
On June 4, officers located Martinez at his residence where he was taken into custody without incident.
On June 8, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office presented the case to the Los Angeles County Superior Court where Martinez was formally charged with 187(A) PC- Murder.
We are grateful for the dedication of our officers and professional staff, who work tirelessly to ensure justice for victims and their families.
