Congratulations to Hodges Manor Elementary’s Terrica Newby for being named the 2026 Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year and Norcom High School’s Teesha Sanders for being named the 2026 Outstanding Principal of the Year!

Administrators from across the division gathered to kick off the first day of the 2026 PPS Leadership Institute! The opening speakers drove home the importance of alignment with the PPS strategic plan, Igniting Futures 2025-2030, from the unique perspectives of a current student, a graduate who returned to serve as a member of the PPS staff, an administrator, a parent and as a member of the Portsmouth City School Board.

🏆 Congratulations to Churchland High School for winning the 2026 Virginia High School League - VHSL 4 Boys Outdoor Track & Field State Championships! This is the second state championship in the school’s history and the second title this school year!
