๐ก A LIFE'S LEGACY ALIGHT ๐ก
On the one-year anniversary of her passing, the family of Annie Mullen Patrick gathered on the Walkway to share stories, memories, and reflections on the life of their beloved sister.
The Mullens are Poughkeepsie natives, and the Walkway has been woven into their family's story for decades - even when it still served as an active railroad bridge. In 2025, they adopted Light 283 in Annie's memory, creating a lasting tribute that will shine above the Hudson River for years to come.
Through the Friends of the Walkway Adopt-a-Light program, families can honor loved ones while helping preserve and enhance the Walkway experience for future generations. To learn more, visit walkway.org/adopt.

๐บ๐ธ THE AMERICAN LOYALIST IN POUGHKEEPSIE ๐ฌ๐ง
During the American Revolution, not everyone was a patriot. Poughkeepsie had its mix of patriots, loyalists, and people who simply didnโt care either way. Those who decided to remain loyal to the crown were not always treated with the respect they once were.
On Sunday, June 14 from 2-3 p.m. at the East Gate Plaza in Poughkeepsie, join Shannon Butler for Walkway Connections as she presents her research on the small but active community of loyalists in Poughkeepsie.
Butler has served as the historian for the Poughkeepsie Public Library District ( PPLD ) for the past six years where she researches and lectures on all things Poughkeepsie. She previously served as the Historian for Hyde Park and worked with the National Park Service at the Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Site, Dutchess County Historical Society and various State Historic Sites. Butler is the author of the book Roosevelt Homes of the Hudson Valley: Hyde Park and Beyond, and she is the creator and co-host of the podcast All My Favorite People Are Dead.
All Walkway Connections events are free to attend and appropriate for all ages.
