Serving the homeless community of Utah County by providing food, showers, laundry, hygiene, counselin

Food & Care Coalition provides much needed resources for the homeless and low income community of Utah County. We serve hot meals every day, provide showers and laundry by appointment, and provide other resources for individuals who are struggling with poverty.

For Ella, the work starts with a simple belief:
Everyone deserves access to basic needs.

That belief is what motivates her each day at the Coalition—helping ensure that patrons have access to meals, resources, support, and a pathway toward greater stability.

Because when basic needs are met, people have the opportunity to focus on what comes next.

In 1986, local faith leaders, public officials, and concerned citizens came together to address the growing need for services in Utah County. Their efforts led to the creation of Friends of the Coalition, which became a nonprofit organization in 1988 and established the Food & Care Coalition as its service arm.

For nearly 40 years, we've relied on the power of community - volunteers, donors, and advocates working together to provide compassionate care, essential resources, and hope for those in need. Today, that same spirit of community ownership continues to drive our mission and strengthen lives across Utah County.

“He Gave My Gift Away”
Dellene Grasmick’s Story

For many years, Dellene Grasmick led the kitchen at the Food and Care Coalition, serving with tireless dedication and deep compassion for every client who walked through our doors.

One of her favorite memories is of a man named Mike, who had been living in his car for four years. Despite his circumstances, he was always cheerful and eager to help others.

One Christmas Eve, Dellene gave Mike a card with movie tickets inside. Overwhelmed, he told her he couldn’t remember the last time someone had given him a gift.

But that evening, Mike returned, apologizing. He had given two of the tickets away. One to a woman who mentioned it was her birthday and no one had acknowledged it. The other to a man waiting for a bus in the cold, with nowhere to stay warm for the hours before his bus would leave.

Dellene reassured him the gift was his to use as he wished. Through tears, she told him he had shown the true spirit of Christmas - selfless, Christlike love. Mike simply replied, “I’ve never had anything to share before.”

Dellene’s legacy of love and compassion lives on in moments like these. We are forever grateful for the impact she made - and continues to make - through those she served.

At the Food & Care Coalition, comprehensive care goes beyond meeting immediate needs.

Through our partnership with Wasatch Behavioral Health’s WATCH Program, counseling and mental health services are available right here at the Coalition, where support is most accessible.

Each month, the WATCH team meets with approximately 250 individuals, helping people address mental health challenges, move toward recovery, and build a foundation for long-term success.

Mental health care plays an important role in helping people regain stability, secure housing, maintain employment, and reconnect with their communities.

We’re grateful to Wasatch Behavioral Health and all of our on-site partners who help make this work possible every day.

More than 15,000 Utahns accessed homeless services last year.

Behind that number are real people in our community—people working to regain stability, safety, and hope for the future.

At the Food & Care Coalition, we provide more than meals. Through housing support, case management, mental health services, and community partnerships, we help patrons take meaningful steps toward long-term stability.

This housing facility is one part of that work happening right here in Utah County.

Mental health support is a critical part of helping people regain stability.

While 1 in 5 American adults experiences a mental health challenge, that number rises to nearly 8 in 10 among those experiencing homelessness.

That’s why we’re grateful for our on-site partnership with Wasatch Behavioral Health and their WATCH program, which provides counseling and mental health services right here at the Coalition, where support is most accessible.

Each month, the WATCH team meets with about 250 individuals at our facility, helping people move toward stabilization, recovery, and permanent housing.

As WATCH Program Manager Monte Memmott shares, the program helps transition about 10 people each month into permanent housing.

At the Coalition, comprehensive care means more than meals. It means helping patrons move toward long-term stability through housing support, mental health care, personal growth, and community connection.
