Our last tournament of the year will be on 6/27 at the Utah Lake State Park.
Most people have no idea Utah Lake had a thriving resort era. Steamboats, Ferris wheels, waterslides … the lake was the destination for generations of Utahns.

This one fish is a big reason Utah Lake looks the way it does today. 🐠
Carp were intentionally introduced to Utah Lake in the 1880s and brought over from Europe, shipped by railroad, and released into the water. Nobody realized what was coming.
They eat the vegetation. They churn up the sediment. And that murky, greenish water Utah Lake is known for? Carp are a huge part of why.

What happens when survival mode never turns off?
After the crop failures of 1848, Utah Lake’s fish literally saved the pioneer settlers from starvation. But the fishing spiraled. People were so consumed by it that church leaders had to step in and remind settlers to go home to their families at night.
The lake that saved a civilization was now being fished to death.
