What does it take to help a young person move from homelessness to independence?

Today, Nevada Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony and his senior advisor visited Eddy House to see that work up close.

They toured the spaces where young people find a hot meal, take a shower, wash their clothes, meet with a counselor, prepare for a job interview, learn how to manage a budget, and finally get a safe night of sleep.

Last year, Eddy House served 586 young people, provided more than 51,000 meals, and offered nearly 21,000 safe bed nights. That impact reaches far beyond our walls. When young people have the support they need to build stable, independent lives, our entire community and state become stronger.

We're grateful to the lieutenant governor and his team for listening, asking questions, and learning more about the young people Eddy House serves every day.

Youth homelessness is solvable, but it will take all of us!

๐Ÿ›‹๏ธ COUCH NEEDED!

We recently had to say goodbye to the main sofa in our Blue Room, a comfortable gathering space used every day by young people at Eddy House.

Doing some spring cleaning? If you have a lightly used couch or sofa that needs a new home, we would love to hear from you!

We're specifically looking for leather or faux leather, with no fabric upholstery, so it can be easily cleaned and sanitized.

Please email photos of the couch to our Development Director, Lisa Shaffer, at [email protected]. If it looks like a good fit, Lisa will reach out directly to coordinate.

Please share to help us make the Blue Room comfortable and welcoming again! ๐Ÿ’œ

Support from The Welmerink Family helps Eddy House keep moving toward a future where youth homelessness in Northern Nevada is rare, brief, and one day, ended.

As a Champion Sponsor of this yearโ€™s But First, Dessert Gala, their generosity fuels both the celebration and the mission behind it.

Thank you Welmerink Family for helping create more moments of safety, hope, and possibility for the young people we serve. ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ’œ

Hiring? Help us secure jobs for homeless youth! ๐Ÿ’œ

Eddy House supports youth ages 18 to 24 who are experiencing homelessness, helping them build the life and job skills needed for independence. Many of these young adults are eager to start their careers and just need a chance to prove themselves.

Weโ€™re hosting a Job Fair on Thursday, June 25 from 11 am to 1 pm to connect motivated youth with employers hiring for entry-level and early career positions in retail, food service, customer service, office support, warehouse, and trades.

If your business is hiring and wants to be part of something meaningful, please email [email protected] by June 15 to get involved.

Champion Sponsors help carry the mission forward, and we are so grateful to have Peek Family Charitable Foundation standing with Eddy House for this yearโ€™s But First, Dessert Gala.

Their support helps fuel the work happening every day at Eddy House, from meeting immediate needs like meals, showers, and shelter to helping young people build the life and job skills necessary for sustainable independence.

Thank you, Peek Family Charitable Foundation, for being a true champion for Northern Nevada youth.

The sweetest part of But First, Dessert has always been the community behind it.

Thank you to The Welmerink Family for helping lead that community as a Champion Sponsor this year. Their support strengthens Eddy Houseโ€™s ability to provide shelter, meals, workforce development, housing support, and wraparound care for young people working toward independence.

Weโ€™re looking for volunteers to help table at local events, share information about Eddy House, and connect people with ways to support youth experiencing homelessness.

If youโ€™re friendly, reliable, and care about helping young people feel seen, safe, and supported, weโ€™d love to have you join us!

Volunteers must be 18 or older. Please note that Eddy House doesnโ€™t offer court-ordered community service opportunities at this time, but our pals at SPCA of Northern Nevada do!

This yearโ€™s But First, Dessert Gala would not be possible without the generosity of partners who believe in showing up for young people in our community.

Please join us in thanking Peek Family Charitable Foundation for their incredible support as a Champion Sponsor.

Their partnership helps Eddy House continue creating pathways to safety, housing, workforce development, and long-term independence for youth ages 18 to 24.

Thank you for helping make this yearโ€™s gala even sweeter. ๐Ÿฐ
