Today is officially TMWA Day!

In honor of TMWA’s 25th Anniversary, the City of Reno, City of Sparks, and Washoe County have officially proclaimed June 11, 2026 as TMWA Day.

Twenty-five years ago, regional leaders made the historic decision to bring our water system under local ownership — ensuring that decisions about our community’s most precious resource would be made here, by the people who live and work here.

Today, we celebrate that vision, the employees who have built TMWA into a trusted water provider, and the regional partnerships that continue to secure our water future.

Thank you to our customers, employees, Board members, and community partners for 25 years of stewardship, innovation, and service.

Today marks TMWA's 25th Anniversary!

On June 11, 2001, our community came together to keep local water resources under local control. Since then, TMWA has worked to protect and strengthen our region's water future through long-term planning, water resource stewardship, infrastructure investment, conservation, watershed protection, aquifer recharge, and water recycling.

For 25 years, we've proudly served the Truckee Meadows with a simple mission: delivering safe, reliable water today while planning for tomorrow.

Thank you to our customers, employees, Board members, regional partners, and community for being part of the journey.

Did you know TMWA generates much of the electricity needed to operate our water system using clean, renewable hydropower?

Join us for a free tour of the historic Verdi Hydroelectric Power Plant and discover how water from the Truckee River is used to generate electricity. You'll get an up-close look at the turbines, learn how hydropower works, and see a facility that has been producing renewable energy for more than 100 years. The power generated at Verdi helps offset the energy costs associated with delivering water to our community.
Upcoming tour dates:
• June 3 at 10 a.m.
• June 10 at 10 a.m.
• June 13 at 10 a.m.
• June 17 at 2 p.m.
• June 24 at 2 p.m.

Tours are free, but reservations are required.
