Looking for a natural way to support a healthy metabolism as you age?

According to AARP, foods such as Greek yogurt, salmon, leafy greens, olive oil, whole grains, and even spices like ginger and chili peppers may help support metabolism and weight management when paired with regular physical activity and healthy habits. AARP also notes that strength training is one of the most effective ways to boost metabolism because muscle burns more calories than fat, even at rest.

Gardening does a lot more than make your yard look nice. 🌱

Spending time in the garden can help boost your mood, provide healthy exposure to vitamin D, and even lower the risk of dementia. It’s also a great form of gentle aerobic exercise that gets you moving without feeling like a workout.

And maybe most importantly, gardening can help combat loneliness by creating opportunities to connect with neighbors, friends, family, and community gardens.

Whether you’re planting tomatoes, flowers, or herbs in a small pot on the patio, every little bit counts.

“Know that you are the perfect age. Each year is special and precious, for you shall only live it once. Be comfortable with growing older.”
~ Louise Hay

Aging isn’t something to fear. It’s something to appreciate. Every year brings new experiences, new lessons, and new opportunities for connection, growth, and joy.

At the Center for Healthy Aging, we celebrate aging as a natural part of life and believe people deserve support, community, and opportunities to thrive at every age.

Sometimes a relatively small need can become a major crisis.

The Center for Healthy Aging’s Elder Gap Program helps low-income older adults, caregivers, and people with disabilities access short-term support that helps them remain safely in their homes and communities. The program may assist with needs that fall through the cracks when other funding or services aren’t available.

That can include things like:
💙 Short-term support services
💙 Limited respite assistance for caregivers
💙 Help accessing essential items or resources
💙 Support that helps people continue living independently

The program is designed to help fill gaps before a situation becomes an emergency.
