BREAKING NEWS: Senator Chuck Schumer just publicly confirmed he OPPOSES the Save Our Bacon Act (SOBA) — the dangerous federal bill that would let Congress wipe out state animal welfare laws nationwide, including right here in New York. Please join us in thanking Senator Chuck Schumer! 🐷
That means BOTH of New York's U.S. Senators now stand against this bill. 👏
This happened because advocates like YOU called, emailed, and made noise ahead of our planned rally and Senator Schumer's office heard you loud and clear. Please thank Senator Schumer on his Twitter post: https://buff.ly/SNv5Otk
Because of this win, Friday's rally is officially cancelled. No need to show up in person, but don't stop showing up for animals. This fight isn't over—SOBA is still being pushed for the Farm Bill, and the opposition has deep pockets.
🙏 Thank you, Senator Schumer, for standing with New York and standing against Big Pork!
This is what building political power for animals looks like. Let's keep it going. 💪

🐾🗳️ It's PRIMARY DAY in New York! Time to get your paws to the polls.
Polls are open today, 6am–9pm. If you haven't voted yet — today's the day.
Every candidate elected this cycle will help shape what's possible for animals — in the state legislature and in Washington, D.C. From factory farming policy to wildlife protections to local trap-neuter-return programs for cats, this election matters.
📋 Before you head out, check our Animal Rights Voter Guide (vfar.org/voterguide). We did 60+ interviews and countless hours of research to find the candidates who actually show up for animals — through their votes, their public commitments, and their willingness to act when it counts.
Bring it with you, or pull it up on your phone in line.

⏰ One more thing: if you're in line when polls close at 9pm, STAY IN LINE. New York law guarantees that everyone in line by 9pm gets to vote. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Animals can't vote. We can. Let's use that power for them. 🐾

This past weekend, VFAR volunteers were out across New York knocking doors, talking to voters, and showing up at poll sites to help elect animal rights champions.
This is how we win.
We don’t have big donors funding expensive glossy mailers. What we have is something stronger: a movement of people willing to show up, have conversations with their neighbors, and put in the work.
That’s what makes Voters For Animal Rights different.
Our endorsements don’t end with a voter guide. We organize. We mobilize. We help candidates who will fight for animals get across the finish line.
Tomorrow, Tuesday June 23, is Election Day — and we’re leaving it all on the field. Voters decide who represents us — and the animals who are counting on us.

🗳️ This is the final weekend of early voting in New York!
Primary Election Day is Tuesday, June 23 — but you don’t have to wait. Early voting ends this Sunday, June 21.
New York State Assembly Members play a critical role in turning ideas into law — and many of New York’s future leaders begin their careers in the Assembly.
By electing animal advocates today, we build long-term relationships in Albany and beyond.
The Assembly has helped pass groundbreaking protections to end the puppy mill pipeline, ban wildlife killing contests, and advance legislation to protect wild animals in circuses and octopuses exploited by factory farms. And when New York leads, other states follow.

🗳️ This is the final weekend of early voting in New York State!
Primary Election Day is Tuesday, June 23 — but you don’t have to wait. Early voting ends this Sunday, June 21.
Who we send to Washington matters for animals.
Right now, federal lawmakers are considering dangerous legislation like the Save Our Bacon Act, which would wipe out state animal protection laws and block states like New York from passing laws to protect animals.
In New York State, that could mean overturning years of progress — including our foie gras ban, puppy mill pipeline law, and the newly passed octopus farming ban.
We need members of Congress who will stand up to these attacks and defend our state’s right to pass meaningful animal protection laws.
