It was an honor to meet NASA astronaut and Artemis II pilot U.S. Navy Captain Victor Glover today as he was welcomed by the California Legislative Black Caucus. Raised in Pomona and Ontario, Captain Glover’s remarkable achievements remind us that with hard work, determination, and perseverance, there are no limits to what we can accomplish.

Today we honor the heroes of D-Day whose courage helped secure freedom for generations to come. I am especially proud to remember my great-uncle, Joe Carrasco, who served among the brave Americans who landed in Normandy on June 6, 1944. We remember their sacrifice and vow never to forget.

Today, Governor Newsom signed my Senate Bill 73 into law, which takes effect immediately. The enactment of SB 73 protects Californians’ sacred right to vote free from fear of intimidation or interference and safeguards the essential integrity of elections in California.
