The Riverside County Board of Supervisors recognized this year’s outstanding Youth Advisory Council (YAC) leaders and Spirit Award recipients! Over the past year, more than 160 high school students volunteered their time to support county events, learn about local government, and amplify the voice of youth across our communities.
Youth Commission Coordinator Joe Matthews introduced district YAC coordinators and honored commissioners, co‑commissioners, and Spirit Award winners for their exceptional leadership and service. Many of these remarkable students are heading to top universities including UC Berkeley, Stanford, UC Irvine, UCSB, and Cal Poly Pomona pursuing studies in political science, engineering, English, communications, and more.
Supervisors and staff applauded the students’ dedication, energy, and civic engagement, emphasizing how vital youth perspectives are in shaping the future of Riverside County. Congratulations to all the 2026 Youth Advisory Council awardees! Your hard work, passion, and commitment truly inspire us.

There is no better feeling than helping clients stabilize and begin a path toward long‑term success. Walking alongside individuals as they share the traumatic experiences that led to their homelessness, while providing ongoing support through their journey. Together, our Office of Homeless Services and our dedicated partners navigate each step, overcome challenges, and help people rebuild the foundation they need to become self‑sufficient and thrive.
The San Jacinto River Bottom outreach team has served 530 individuals and successfully housed 316 individuals, while providing street outreach services and comprehensive wrap‑around care throughout the Hemet and San Jacinto region. Through this work, clients receive housing assistance, consistent street outreach, mental health and substance‑use support, and workforce connection programs designed to promote long‑term stability.
Our Street Outreach Teams meet people where they are, building trust through in‑person engagement and opening pathways to critical services. Housing and shelter programs offer safe spaces for those ready to transition off the streets, while comprehensive care including behavioral health support, substance‑use counseling, and employment programs made possible through strong partnerships.
This work would not be possible without our incredible partners who stand with us every day to ensure help reaches those who need it most. Thank you to our dedicated partners, including City Net Homeless Services, City of Hemet, City of San Jacinto, CA, Riverside University Health System - Behavioral Health, Riverside County Department of Public Social Services - Adult Protective Services, Healthcare in Action, Housing Authority of the County of Riverside, Riverside County Office of Homeless Services, Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District, and Supervisor Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez. Your commitment truly makes all the difference.
